Laion turns white
Snow crystals glisten on the snow-covered slopes, behind them, the jagged peaks of the Dolomites light up and the winter sun shines out from the deep-blue sky. In the village itself, silence reigns, but around Laion active holidaymakers can properly get their money’s worth too, whether on the ski slopes, the cross-country ski trail, the toboggan run or on foot.
Dolomiti Superski
Laion is situated far away from the hustle and bustle but only a few minutes away from the largest ski carousel in the world, the famous Sellaronda and the World Cup piste in Val Gardena. The Dolomiti Superski ski association awaits with 1,200 kilometres of slopes and you can get there by skibus too.
Wanderlust in the snow
Fresh mountain air, snow-covered slopes, absolute silence. The only thing that you hear is the crunch under your feet. You can set off directly from your door. However, Laion is also the best starting point for winter hiking trips to Val Gardena and the Alpe di Siusi.
Toboggan fun on the Rasciesca
On the Rasciesca, Laion’s local mountain, a six-kilometre-long toboggan run will take you from the summit station all the way to Ortisei (St. Ulrich). Here, fun toboggan parties are guaranteed. The cable car will quickly take you to lofty heights to what is probably the most impressive view for miles around.
Paradise for cross-country skiing
Whether you like skating or prefer the classic style, 80 kilometres of sunny cross-country trails await, and that’s just in the neighbouring Alpe di Siusi alone. With its trails, known as “loipen”, spanning the whole range of difficulty levels, Val Gardena is also an El Dorado for fans of cross-country skiing. Both areas are in Europe’s biggest cross-country carousel, the Dolomiti Nordic Ski.
